Don Edwards

Don Edwards begin his radio career at age 14 at WGBA-AM in Columbus performing a variety of tasks as well as studying engineering. Upon high school graduation, he took and passed the FCC First Class Radiotelephone Operators test and, at 17, was one of the youngest people in the country to do so. Edwards was an engineer at WDAK before moving across the Chattahoochee to serve as chief engineer and host of “Night Train” as teen oriented show featuring requests and artist interviews. In 1968 he went to work at WHYD as assistant chief and on air personality. It was back to WPNX/WWRH in 1972 as chief engineer and announcer, positions he held until 1977. In 1978, Don left radio full time to open his own production business. He has done much charity work in the Columbus area. Today he continues to do freelance voice work, production, and public address work.
