2009 Career Achievement

Marvin Massey

Marvin Massey  was born in Decatur on July 9, 1929. In 1951, he came to WGIG Brunswick from Jacksonville via a recommendation to 2008 Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Founders and Directors award recipient, Jack Lenz. “He was a junior staff announcer in Jacksonville so it was a chance for him to move up” said Lenz. Massey never left Brunswick, although during his 56 year career in radio on the Georgia coast he worked almost every job in a station. Massey was an announcer, salesman, copywriter, news director, sales manager and finally station manager. Along the way he worked for WGIG, WMOG, and WSFN. He became a part of the community and upon his retirement was recognized by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters as well as the National association of Broadcaster. Massey lives in Brunswick.
